Summer is here!

Well once again I have neglected this blog - sorry Mom! We have done a few things the past couple months that are blog worthy. We took Grayson to the zoo in April and the new childrens zoo area is really good - he especially enjoyed feeding the Lorikeets and of course walking through the stream. Grayson also got to go to his first baseball game - we went on a Sunday afternoon to a Redhawks game. He really liked it but of course was pretty much over it before the end of the game. But I did happen to catch a game ball in my nachos - not sure if Casey or Grayson was more excited. We took a little trip with Pa Bill to Tulsa to my cousin's house for his little girl's 2nd birthday. It was fun to see them and to see Maddy and Grayson play together since we don't get together too often. Pa Bill had a good time watching them too. We have had our first lake weekend. We went to Texhoma last weekend and Grayson was SO happy to be playing on the beach for 3 straight days. He does love the lake. It didn't take him long to get pretty brave about the swimming either. And since we are officially tube free(in his ears) this summer we don't have that to worry about - we are all pretty excited about that. And of course he rode his tube behind the boat as if he was an old pro! In other big news we are having another boy! YIKES! If he's anything like Grayson I am going to need some more patience!! LOL! We are excited - can't decide on a name. Grayson's name choice was Poppa 5! No thanks - so I ask him "what about Baylor" and he said "what about not Baylor" so I guess that's out!! We are leaning towards Gibson. Wasn't wanting a "G" thing but we like the name and we like it shortened to Gib (Gib Brooksher - sounds baseball-y huh?) and it has some meaning also. My Great Grandpa Huff was Henry Gilbert and people called him Gib and Gibson's meaning is Gilbert's son - so if Mimi can not think of Gibsons discount store(just kidding mom) we will probably go with Gibson. Well that about sums it up - summer is under way! I have another post below that is a must read also. I'll try to update more often and then these won't be so long!!

He needed to change the oil in his truck too!

He performed this move about 100 times - getting a little deeper each time

Locked Out

So this story could get long - but definitely one that HAD to be documented. For a while Grayson went through a little phase about locking doors - all of them. So we were on the front porch one afternoon(just me and Grayson were home) watching a little rain shower when I heard the front door shut behind me and I instantly knew what had just happened - yes, I was locked out of the house. I thought, no big deal he loves play ring the door bell and somebody come answer the door. So I start ringing the door bell - he is sitting in the living room watching cartoons - paying zero attention to the door bell, the knocking, or me asking him to come open the door. So in the rain I go to the garage - thank goodness we have an external keypad for that, however that door into the house was also locked - deadbolt and all. And of course since we have a 3 year old that can start vehicles my keys were inside. So I knock on the door and politely ask him to open it - I hear him come to the door, mumble something, laugh and then I hear his little feet running back down the hallway - by this point I'm getting a little frustrated. So to the back porch I go - in the rain. Yes, we normally do have a spare key on the back porch for reasons that would take another blog entry it was not present at this time. So now I am knocking on the back door and he does come to the door and I tell him that I need in - he just stares at me and laughs - it is not funny anymore. I tell him if he hurts himself I won't be able to get to him and he needs to let me in - to no avail. By this time I am just down right mad - I had been at this for a good 10 min at this point. As I am looking in the back door/windows wondering what to do - I see him on the kitchen counter getting down the big bottle of bubbles - I can just see myself cleaning up bubble solution out of my carpet and furniture - now I am like - Robin, you've got to get in the house! So I tell him if he wants to go see his Poppa later he had better open the door - not in a nice tone. He totally ignores me and I am thinking crap - I just knew that would work. So on to plan B (actually like plan F!) So I knock and get him to come to the door and I tell him to hurry and come outside because I had found a worm!!! BINGO! The door opens and in I go - yeah, here's the bad part of the story - Grayson got a hefty spanking on his bare bottom and I set him in the chair while I explained to him why. So there he was crying his eyes out and do you know why - because he wanted to see the WORM! So I told him mommy lied there is no worm I just needed him to unlock the door - I can assure you that there being no worm hurt him worse than the spanking!!
