Recent Happenings

Well we are nearing the end of summer - it has gotten really hot this last week. Grayson and I were on vacation last week but we didn't do much. Spent a couple of days at mom and dad's(which is the same as DisneyLand to Grayson at this point - LOL). We did take Grayson to a little waterpark in Ardmore one afternoon. It was much better than the Whitewater trip. It was like a splash park/kiddie water park/big kid water park. It really was an awesome little place. They have converted one of the old city pools and Grayson had a blast. He is now swimming under water!!!! He was going down the little slide on his stomach and swimming under the rope and jumping off the side - he has definitely gotten more brave the last couple of weeks since we have had a chance to be in the water quite a bit. I am so glad he loves to swim. In other Grayson news - he swallowed a penny!! YIKES! He was sitting in the floor watching cartoons one evening and I think he was just not paying attention to what he was doing and he put it in his mouth and accidentally swallowed it. So yes, we had to "look" for it!!! Double YIKES! Kudos to Casey for that one - I brought out the 'ole "I AM growing a human" excuse for this chore - I really only use it where appropriate and I felt this qualified!!! However, we never found the penny. It has been 2 weeks now and his pediatrician said we could do an x-ray if we wanted to but he didn't really think we NEEDED to, we probably just missed it along the way and since he feels fine and shows no signs of it being a problem we just decided to forgo the x-ray.
Well we are mostly ready for Gibson to be here, which may end being sooner than later. I had an ultrasound to check his growth since I haven't gained much weight and he is a little low on belly fat. This isn't necessarily indicative of any conditions except that it could mean the placenta is not functioning exactly like it should, it is supplying the necessary items but not able to do the extra's like store up fat. So he could have a hard time controlling his body temperature once he is here. The other problem was that he never moved during the u/s so we ended up doing a non-stress test and he had to get zapped twice(they call it the baby zapper, it makes the noise like a taser and that sends vibrations through the amniotic fluid and it startles the baby) but he finally passed. So now I go weekly to the dr and have a non-stress test at each appt and will have another u/s in about a week and half. So pretty much each Friday could be the day if they find that something isn't going just right during all these tests. I am on a super high protein diet to try and help him build up some extra fat which is really hard to do. I haven't felt a hunger pain in 2 weeks since I started this and it's not easy to just keep eating even though you aren't hungry!! So that's about all of our news - now we just wait for Gibson.

We think he has good golf potential - must be the Huff blood runnin' through him
